SATURDAY: New York post- punk revival band Interpol worked with Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann on sixth album “Marauder” without straying from its dark Joy Division vibe. Pitchfork said of the album, “This is how ‘ Turn on the Bright Lights’ might’ve sounded from a band that looked and acted more like the Strokes.” They bring the tour to Stage AE, North Shore, with Surfbort. $ 34.50/$ 37; ticketmast­er. com.

SATURDAY: Pittsburgh groove band Shaq Nicholson, which played its first gig at at Bernie Sanders fundraiser, takes its influences from Pink Floyd, Bill Withers, Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu. SUNDAY: Why Don’t We, the LA boy band — made up of Zach Herron, Jack Avery, Daniel Seavey, Corbyn Besson, and Jonah Marais — has amassed more than 1 billion global audio streams, doing smooth vocals over electronic hip- pop beats. SUNDAY: Grammy- and Oscar - winning rapper Common is about to follow 2016’ s “Black America Again” with the new album “Let Love” on Aug. 30, advanced by the singles “Hercules” and “HER Love.” Common explained in the album announceme­nt that the album was inspired by his best- selling memoir “Let Love Have the Last Word.” “It forced me to go deeper and because I opened up about so many things in the book, I was charged to go to raw, personal and spiritual places in the music. Production- wise, I knew that the music had to have depth, soul and dimension to it. I wanted the musiciansh­ip and the spirit of what live music brings, but it also had to have something raw and basement about it.” He plays the Roxian, McKees Rocks, with Maimouna Youssef at 8 p. m. $ 43-$ 59; roxianlive. com.

SUNDAY: The current incarnatio­n of the legendary L. A. hardcore punk outfit

Black Flag features the one original member, guitarist Greg Ginn, with singer Mike Vallely — the profession­al skateboard­er who fronted Revolution Mother — plus bassist Tyler Smith ( from the band Purple) and drummer Isaias Gil, whose credits include David Lee Roth and Macy Gray.
