Holiday cheer to benefit hunger

The fourth annual holiday cheer party to benefit nonprofit organizati­ons battling hunger in the North Boros will take place on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Mayernik Center, 498 Camp Horne Road, Ohio Township. Santa and the JAM Club of Avonworth Elementary Schools will hand out cards, and goodies and the Avonworth Choral Group will perform.

A cup of holiday tea

The Whitehall Public Library will host a Christmas Tea Party on Dec. 14 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the library, 100 Borough Park Drive. The high tea event will feature scones and cream, tea sandwiches, dessert and unlimited tea samplings. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. For more informatio­n, call 412-882-6622.

Santas on the slopes

Dec. 21 will be Santa Ski Day at Boyce Park in Plum. Skiers and snowboarde­rs dress in their best Santa red and white. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the park’s Four Seasons Activity Center. At dusk, there will be a torchlight parade. A $10 donation at the door will benefit the Ski Patrol. The deadline to register is Dec. 20. Music for Maguire in Sewickley

Music Plus, the concert series at St. James Parish in Sewickley, will present its annual “Music for Maguire” benefit on Sunday, at 6:30 p.m. in the church, located at 200 Walnut St. The Pittsburgh Symphony Brass will perform a program of seasonal favorites. Contributi­ons will benefit the Maguire Memorial in New Brighton, which services individual­s with physical or mental disabiliti­es. A reception will follow.
