Students can ‘Meet Design’ Feb. 12 is the deadline for high school juniors and seniors to register for “Meet Design,” La Roche University’s daylong exploratio­n of careers in graphic and interior design. Soup’s on at Holy Cross

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church will hold its annual soup sampling event on Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its community center, 123 Gilkeson Road, Mt. Lebanon. Admission is $10, which includes five samples of homemade soup. Soup can be purchased to take home for $10 a quart. Proceeds will benefit Internatio­nal Orthodox Christian Charities.

Eating the DASH way

Penn State Extension’s Westmorela­nd County office will offer a handson cooking class on the DASH diet, which is designed to treat high blood pressure. Musical Red Beans and Rice The Red Beans and Rice Combo will perform Feb. 22 for the Listen Locally Downstairs concert series at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall. The 8 p.m. concert will include New Orleans R&B, early rock and roll and barroom ballads. The ACFL&MH is at 300 Beechwood Ave., Carnegie. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
