2 charged in killing of Monroeville woman

Body was found in McKeesport park

Allegheny County police have charged two men in the killing of a Monroeville woman in 2019 and dumping her body in a McKeesport park.

Police on Monday said they charged Daron Dominque Parks, 26, and Ramonta Yancey, 26, with homicide in the death of Tameka Dallas, 43, whose body was discovered on Sept. 12 off a trail in Renziehausen Park.

An autopsy confirmed that Dallas’ cause of death was strangulation.

On the same day Dallas’ body was found, police in Washington County arrested two men — Mr. Parks and Clyde Cox — in a Walmart parking lot with Dallas’ car, the same vehicle police say was used to dump her body. Police said a third man, later identified as Yancey, eluded them. Cox, of Northview Heights, and Mr. Parks, of Bridgeville, were arrested when they were found with the car at the Trinity Point Shopping Center in South Strabane. Police said Mr. Parks had the keys to the vehicle.

The charges against Cox were later dismissed by North Strabane District Judge Herb Mitchell. Cox’s attorney, Ralph Karsh, said his client was “merely a passenger. And police were able to verify the information he gave them.”

Allegheny County police reviewed surveillance footage near the area where Dallas’ body was found and reported that her car pulled in and parked at about 11:13 p.m. Sept. 11.

The car’s headlights are then turned off and movement can be seen behind the car, according to the criminal complaint. After a few moments, the headlights come back on and the car leaves the park, according to the complaint.

Additional surveillance footage shows Yancey driving the car and later attempting to use an ATM, according to the complaint.

In addition to the count of criminal homicide, Mr. Parks is charged with two counts of robbery of a motor vehicle, a felony; tampering with or fabricating physical evidence; and abuse of a corpse. The latter charges are misdemeanors. Yancey is facing the same charges, plus another felony count related to car theft.

Mr. Parks is being held at the Washington County Jail. Yancey is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
