Texas defeats No. 20 WVU

Andrew Jones scored 22 points to lead Texas past No. 20 West Virginia, 67-57, as the injury-depleted Longhorns continued a late-season surge.

Courtney Ramey added 21 points for Texas (17-11, 7-8 Big 12), which has won three in a row. The Mountainee­rs (19-9, 7-8) have lost six in a row on the road in conference play.

West Virginia beat Texas by 38 points on Jan. 20, the worst loss of coach Shaka Smart’s five years with the Longhorns.

But the Mountainee­rs came limping into the rematch.

Oscar Tshiebwe scored 14 points to lead West Virginia.

Te’a Cooper scored 17 points and No. 2 Baylor (26-1, 15-0 Big 12) clinched a share of its 10th consecutiv­e Big 12 regular-season championsh­ip with a 64-39 victory against the West Virginia women. Baylor won its 56th consecutiv­e regular-season conference game. Kysre Gondrezick came off the bench to lead the Mountainee­rs (16-10, 6-9) with 13 points in the loss.

Florida State

Trent Forrest scored 14 of his 16 points after halftime to rally No. 6 Florida State (24-4, 14-3 ACC) from a double-digit deficit and beat No. 11 Louisville (236, 14-4), 82-67.

Women’s poll

The No. 1 Gamecocks clinched their fifth SEC title in seven years Sunday and received 27 of 30 first-place votes. No. 2 Baylor got two first-place votes and No. 3 Oregon got one. Stanford stayed at No. 4 and will host the Ducks Monday night. Louisville, Connecticu­t and Maryland were the next three teams in the poll. North Carolina State, UCLA and Mississipp­i State rounded out the first 10 teams in the poll. The Bruins and Bulldogs both lost Sunday.
