No. 7 Blue Devils fall in 2 OTs in ACC

No. 7 Duke beaten in double overtime by Wake Forest.

Brandon Childress shook off an awful shooting start and hit a tying 3-pointer late in regulation to help host Wake Forest stun seventhran­ked Duke, 113-101, in double overtime.

Childress missed his first 10 shots before hitting the tying 3 with 15.5 seconds left in regulation.

Childress buried another on the first possession of the second overtime to put the Demon Deacons (12-15, 5-12 ACC) ahead to stay, sending them to their first win against the Blue Devils in nearly six years.

Childress finished with 17 points and made six of his final 10 shots and scored 13 points in the two overtimes. Isaiah Mucius came up with a dunk with 14.7 seconds left to finally punctuate a huge victory for Danny Manning’s club.

It marked the second time in a week the Blue Devils (235, 13-4) lost on the road to an unranked instate opponent.

The Tar Heels lost by 22 points at N.C. State last week, ending with another court-storming celebratio­n.

Duquesne

The Lady Dukes (18-10, 8-7 A-10) downed visiting Fordham (18-10, 10-5) after outscoring the Rams, 31-24, in the final quarter. Libby Bazelak (21) and Laia Sole (20) combine for 41 points.

Dayton

Obi Toppin had 19 points and seven rebounds as visitng No. 4 Dayton (26-2, 15-0 A-10) survived a sluggish

performanc­e to beat George Mason (15-13, 4-11), 66-55, and clinched at least a share of the Atlantic 10 regular-season title with three games to play. Toppin, one of the leading candidates for national player of the year, scored 13 of his 19 points after halftime for the Flyers who own the country’s longest winning streak at 17 games.

Northweste­rn

Abi Scheid scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Lindsey Pulliam added 16 points as No. 14 Northweste­rn beat the host Ohio State women, 69-55, to remain in first place in the Big Ten. Northweste­rn (25-3, 152) tied a program record for wins in a season with the 1978-79 team by winning at Ohio State (17-11, 10-7) for the first time since 2011.

Oregon

Sabrina Ionescu became the first player in NCAA history to reach 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds and notched her record 26th career tripledoub­le, leading No. 3 Oregon past fourth-ranked Stanford, 74-66, late Monday night.
