Curry to return Thursday for Warriors

-

Stephen Curry is scheduled to return Thursday night from a more than four-month absence with a broken left hand to play for Golden State in a home game against the Toronto Raptors.

The Warriors announced Wednesday night that Curry had been medically cleared to play and would be in the lineup in a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals won in six games by Toronto.

The two-time NBA MVP missed 58 games after falling on his left hand Oct. 30 versus Phoenix.

He practiced Monday with the G League Santa Cruz Warriors, then was recalled back to the NBA team later in the day in a most expected promotion.

“I’m very excited. I feel

like everybody is,” teammate Andrew Wiggins said.

“He’s the type of player that single-handedly he’s going to come and change the way everyone plays for the better. So, I’m excited. He’s a game-changer.”

Celtics

Guard Jaylen Brown will miss at least a week with a hamstring injury, coach Brad Stevens said. Brown, who is averaging 20.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season, suffered the injury in the closing minutes of regulation in Tuesday’s 129-120 overtime loss to Brooklyn.

Cavaliers

Center Andre Drummond (strained left calf) and rookie guard Darius Garland (strained left groin) were both out of the lineup for Cleveland for the second consecutive game. Center Tristan Thompson missed his third game with a bruised left knee.

Nuggets

Free agent guard Troy Daniels is finalizing a deal with Denver according to league sources. Daniels cleared waivers after working out his release with the Los Angeles Lakers.
