Ravens lose DL Brockers in weird case

-

Baltimore reached agreement on a three-year contract with the Rams free agent last week. But the deal was never sealed in part because Brockers could not take a physical at the team’s training facility due to restrictions by the NFL regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ravens were concerned by an ankle sprain Brockers from the 2019 season. His agent, Scott Casterline, had two independent doctors — including Dallas Cowboys head physician Dr. Dan Cooper — examine the eight-year veteran and said both found arthritis but insisted that Brockers “can play with it.”

That wasn’t good enough for Baltimore. Unable to verify the extent of the injury through examination by their own doctors, the Ravens sought to amend the proposed contract. No settlement could be reached, and early Friday the Ravens wrote on Twitter: “The Ravens will not sign Michael Brockers as previously reported after being unable to come to an agreement on terms of a contract.”

After reaching an agreement with Brockers, the Ravens passed on freeagent Michael Pierce, who signed with Minnesota, and traded Chris Wormley to the Steelers.

Lions

Detroit confirmed contract agreements with linebackers Reggie Ragland and Elijah Lee. Ragland started 32 games over the past three seasons with Kansas City. He played 14 games last season for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs, making seven starts. He had two sacks. Lee comes to Detroit from San Francisco, the other Super Bowl participant. He was drafted by Minnesota in the seventh round out of Kansas State in 2017, and the 49ers signed him off the Vikings practice squad this past season. Lee made one start last season.

Raiders

Las Vegas officially announced the additions of free-agent linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski (from West Virginia and Bethel Park High School), safety Jeff Heath and defensive end Carl Nassib from Penn State.
