MT. LEBANON SENIOR 6-3 • GUARD

-

The scoop: Scored exactly 30 points in the first four games this season. Scored many more points the rest of the season and helped Mt. Lebanon make the WPIAL Class 6A championship game for the second consecutive year. An excellent shooter who scored a variety of ways, Hoffman averaged 21.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. He shot 49% from the field and sank 67 3-pointers. He scored 40 points in a WPIAL playoff game and finished his career with 1,146 points. College talk: Hoffman will play next season at the College of Wooster, a perennial power in NCAA Division III. Most memorable moment this season: Whenever I scored my 1,000th point on senior night. Favorite player of all time: Larry Bird. That’s why I wear No. 33. Favorite person to follow on Twitter: (Rapper) OverTime. Toughest opponent: Ethan Morton. People might be surprised to know: I’ve never played AAU basketball. Person who has influenced you the most, other than a parent: My grandpa (Reg Tate). He has the most passion for the game I’ve ever seen. He’s 89. You can’t be an athlete or a coach in the future, you’d be: An NBA agent. Funniest moment from this season: We were in Miami for a holiday tournament and the team was out to eat at this Mexican restaurant. We told the waiters it was coach (Joe) David’s birthday. Everyone came to sing happy birthday to him. With no school because of the coronavirus, anything you’ve done differently to pass the time: We moved into this house probably six months ago. My mom grew up in this house and there is an old hoop with a net that must have been 80 years old. I put a new net on and have been getting a lot of shots up outside — and watching a lot of movies.
