ISIAH WARFIELD
CENTRAL VALLEY SENIOR 6-5 • GUARD
The scoop: A versatile point guard with good size, Warfield played his first three years at Sewickley Academy before transferring to Central Valley as a senior. Despite facing many defenses designed to control him, Warfield still averaged 21.2 points a game, shot 49% from the field and had 36 3-pointers. He averaged 8.5 rebounds and 4 assists in one of the most competitive sections in WPIAL. Scored 1,679 career points. College talk: Signed with Liberty, a team that qualified for the NCAA tournament this year and last. Warfield committed to Liberty as a junior, and at the time also had scholarship offers from Duquesne, Southern Utah and Hampton. Most memorable moment this season: The game at New Castle. I felt like that was the game that kind of turned around our season and we came together. Favorite player of all time: LeBron James. Favorite person to follow on Twitter: Antonio Brown or Steven A. Smith. Toughest opponent: I played against (Butler’s) Ethan Morton a couple times and (former Moon player) Puff Johnson, too. People might be surprised to know: Baseball was my favorite sport growing up. Person who has influenced you the most, other than a parent: Carliss Jeter (Beaver Falls’ coach and Warfield’s uncle). He always gave me advice and helped me out. You can’t be an athlete of a coach in the future, you’d be: A lawyer. Funniest moment from this season: Before our game against Quaker Valley, we were sitting in the bleachers when the Quaker Valley coach (Mike Mastroianni) came over to talk to our coach (Brandon Ambrose). One of our players (Justin Thompson) tried to get some water from a water bottle and sprayed it all over the Quaker Valley coach. With no school because of the coronavirus, anything you’ve done differently to pass the time: Not really.
