Closed salons are still dressing up fingers with press-on nail kits
Tired of having naked nails? Some local salons have come up with ways you can dress them up at home with DIY press-on nail kits.
“With COVID-19 shutting us down for two-plus months, we wanted to still give our clients a way to pamper themselves,” said Lauren Long, the owner and a stylist at La La’s Salon & Spa in Garfield. “We also wanted to give the opportunity for our staff to still be creative and earn some income while we cannot be in the salon as normal.”
Salons and spas, including nail salons, are closed in Pennsylvania until the county where they’re located is cleared to move to the “green phase,” the least restrictive category in Gov. Tom Wolf’s tiered reopening plan.
The salon’s stylists create nail sets in a range of colors and styles. Some are more subtle, while others are dramatic with sparkling embellishments. Each kit comes with instructions on how to apply it at home. Sets range from $25 to $75 and can be ordered by sending a direct message to La La’s Salon & Spa on Instagram @lalassalonspa. To receive them, choose from free, contactless curbside pickup or direct shipping to your home for a $5 delivery fee.
If you’re in the market for something custom, Manikure nail salon in Lawrenceville also recently rolled out its own line of press-on nails called MANIK.
At manikpresson.com, select a set with or without nail art. There are instructions on the website for how to measure your fingernails to ensure your set is a precise fit. Next, upload inspiration photos or opt for the stylists to use their imaginations. Sets start at $50, plus upcharges for additional nail art.
