‘Poured in PA’ now a series on YouTube
“Poured in PA: The Series,” episodic documentaries about Pennsylvania’s craft beer industry, launched Monday on YouTube, and the first episode is set in Pittsburgh.
Harrisburg’s GK Visual, which also produced the 2019 film “Poured in Pennsylvania” and 2015’s “Brewed in the Burg,” is back at a favorite subject with a 42-minute first episode set at the 2019 Fresh Fest black beer festival, held for the second time at the North Side’s Nova Place.
Hosted by Danielle Hartman, the episodes each spotlight a brewery — in the first installment, Shubrew in Zelienople.
The second episode explores Harrisburg Beer Week, which had to be canceled this spring due to COVID-19. Three other episodes have also been released, each with a disclaimer that all footage was shot before the pandemic.
“By publishing these episodes now, it’s our hope that we can expose the viewers to breweries that they may not be aware of, and hopefully when we get back to ‘normal’ they can make plans to visit,” says executive producer and GK co-owner Nate Kresge. “We are also working on new episodes that highlight how breweries are adapting during this time with deliveries and shipping.”
The series was meant to debut on Amazon Prime Video, but due to a bottleneck in posting content there, Mr. Kresge and his team decided to launch on the “Poured” YouTube channel and then move to Amazon Prime Video later. He promises more Pittsburgh.
“We will continue to travel the state, especially now that counties are turning yellow and green,” he says. “We’ve already been working on covering East End’s Neighborhood Series and plan to finish that story soon. Along with that we covered the Pink Boots brew day at Penn.”
The series is funded by the Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverages Industry Promotion Board and state tourism via the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
