Pa. reports 34 new COVID-19 deaths

There were 34 new deaths and 362 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Tuesday in Pennsylvan­ia, the state health department announced.

Of the new deaths, Allegheny County reported one, giving a total of 174 (162 are confirmed and 12 are probable). The state reported Allegheny had three new deaths, making its total 177. No other deaths were reported in Western Pennsylvan­ia.

There were 44 new positive cases reported in Western Pennsylvan­ia. Twenty-seven were reported in Allegheny County. Since the county announced its first case March 14, there have been 2,113 positive cases — 1,979 are confirmed and 134 are probable.

The total number of hospitaliz­ations reported by Allegheny County throughout the pandemic is 357. Of them, 141 required intensive care, 70, a mechanical ventilator.

The state has reported a total of 6,277 deaths and 79,483 positive cases.

• Butler: 8 facilities, 16 cases among residents, 12 cases among employees, 2 deaths (no change)

• Cambria: 1 facility, 1 case among residents, 0 cases among employees, 0 deaths (no change)

• Clarion: 1 facility, 1 case among residents, 1 case among employees, 0 deaths

• Clearfield: 3 facilities, 3 cases among residents, 1 case among employees, 0 deaths (no change)

• Erie: 14 facilities, 26 cases among residents, 21 cases among employees, 6 deaths

• Fayette: 1 facility, 3 cases among residents, 0 cases among employees, 1 death (no change)
