Allegheny County reported a triple-digit increase in new daily COVID19 cases for the fifth day in a row on Saturday, with 150 more infections. The county reported two new hospitalizations and no additional deaths. The state saw an increase of 634 positive cases, with three additional deaths.
Since the county reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19 on March 14, it has had a total of 3,430 cases. The county is reporting 187 people have died from COVID-19. Pennsylvania is reporting 89,375 total cases statewide and 6,749 deaths.
The newest cases in Allegheny County include people ranging in age from 3 to 87, with a median age of 26.
The county is continuing to ask residents to limit travel and errands to only those that are necessary. In response to a surge of cases over the last week, county officials on Thursday ordered all bars, restaurants and casinos to close for a week starting Friday and prohibited gatherings of more than 25 people.
