Fresh Nostalgia’s new location offers fresh summertime looks.
Something new opening its doors in Downtown’s Cultural District is always exciting. A store that did it during a pandemic is an even bigger deal.
Fresh Nostalgia started welcoming shoppers this month inside its new expanded home on Sixth Street, near Heinz Hall. Previously, this women’s clothing and accessories boutique was located in a small storefront in Market Square.
Its latest home is decked out in vibrant statement wallpaper and colorful furniture and is stocked with stylish summer selections.
Shoppers “definitely can expect a lot of the same fashion that I carried before, the same style, but with a lot more variety because of the larger space,” says owner Beth Buenaventura. She describes the aesthetic as “fashion for the creative professional.”
Convenient cross-body clutches in soft neutrals are popular for the season, she says, as well as tops with voluminous balloon sleeves. Plus, the shop has whimsical jewelry, including a create-your-own bracelet stack station.
The store’s decor is about as fun to explore as the fashions themselves. One wall is dressed up with wallpaper of tigers leaping in front of a rosy background. Another is a gallery wall loaded with mismatched mirrors. Materials for the checkout counter’s wrap came from Salvage Pittsburgh. A comfortable seating area awaits shoppers outside the dressing rooms.
“We want it to really feel like a sense of community and like you’re at home,” Ms. Buenaventura says.
She’s looking forward to making more shoppers feel at home once it’s safe for indoor restaurant dining, theaters and other Downtown events to resume. For now, store hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. She also offers private in-store shopping experiences for up to 10 people (with masks and social distancing), or she’ll bring the party to your home or business with the Fresh Nostalgia fashion truck.
A grand opening celebration is slated for 5 to 8 p.m. July 23. Learn more or shop online at freshnostalgia.com.
