Richard Dabruzzo was appointed vice president, physician network development, at St. Clair Hospital.

Pittsburgh Opera said Tarek Abdalla has joined its board. Mr. Abdalla is a partner at Jones Day law firm.
The Richard King Mellon Foundation hired Gabriella Gonzalez as program officer and promoted Lynne Ventress to program officer and Grace Evans to senior program associate.
Dr. Mary Lynn Sealey, director of undergraduate medical education for the AHN Medicine Institute at Allegheny Health Network, was recognized by Drexel University College of Medicine with the 2020 Dean’s Special Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching at AHN. Dr. Sealey is an internal medicine physician who cares for individuals of all ages who have chronic conditions or are suffering acute illnesses or injuries. As director, she oversees clinical rotations for approximately 150 medical students.
Lei Li, associate professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering received $110,000 from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund for work developing 3D-printed membranes that will aid in oil-water separation. The development could help convert the oily wastewater into purified, usable water.
McAuley Ministries, Pittsburgh Mercy’s grantmaking foundation, presented the 2020 Sister Susan Welsh Good Neighbor Award to Christopher R. Roach Jr. The award honors the legacy of Sister Susan Welsh, RSM, retired president and CEO of Pittsburgh Mercy, and current board chairperson and founding board member of McAuley Ministries Foundation. Mr. Roach was nominated by Jeanne McNutt, executive director of Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh, and Raqueeb Bey, founder and executive director of Black Urban Gardeners and Farmers of Pittsburgh Co-op.

Launched in March 2015 to tackle the interconnected problems of food waste and hunger, 412 Food Rescue recently celebrated a major milestone: 10 million pounds of food rescued. That’s the amount of good food that the tech nonprofit has prevented from being wasted by redirecting it to households in poverty and nonprofits serving food-insecure populations in Western Pennsylvania.
Howmet Aerospace Foundation is granting $1 million to Sarah Heinz House to support science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) programs in Pittsburgh. Sarah Heinz House, a member of the Boys & Girls Club of America, will use the fiveyear grant to install new audio/video systems and upgrade its wireless network infrastructure. These improvements will strengthen its Sarah Heinz Advanced Robotics Program.
