Jeff Goldblum, Billy Porter, CMU alums among Emmy nominees

The Emmy nomination­s announced Tuesday include a number of people with Pittsburgh ties.

Last year’s best actor in a drama series, Pittsburgh native Billy Porter, was again recognized for FX’s “Pose.”

West Homestead native Jeff Goldblum was nominated in outstandin­g hosted non-fiction series or special for the Disney+ show, “The World According to Jeff Goldblum.” Three Carnegie Mellon University alums were nominated: Ted Danson (best actor in a comedy series, NBC’s “The Good Place”), Cherry Jones (guest actress in a drama series, HBO’s “Succession”) and Leslie Odom Jr. (outstandin­g character voice-over performanc­e, Apple TV’s “Central Park”).

Monroevill­e native and Penn State graduate Don Roy King picked up his 13th nomination for outstandin­g direction of a variety series (the Eddie Murphy episode of “Saturday Night Live” on NBC). King has won nine times, including last year.

Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails collaborat­or Atticus Ross received two nomination­s for their music in HBO’s “Watchmen” (dramatic score and song music and lyrics). Reznor is a native of Lawrence County.

The 72nd annual Emmy Awards is set to air Sept. 20 on ABC with Jimmy Kimmel as host. Other nominees:
