Allegheny County posts 74 new virus cases and four deaths
There were 74 new cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday in Allegheny County, according to the county health department, which also reported four new deaths.
With the latest figures, the county’s case total rose to 9,433 since the first case was reported in mid-March. The death toll is now 288.
According to the county, the new cases range in age from 2 to 96 years old, with a median age of
38. The tests were returned positive between Aug. 10 and Aug. 15.
Of the deaths, the county said one person was in their 60s, two were in their 80s and one was in their 90s. The four died between Aug. 10 and Aug. 13. One of the patients died at a long-term care facility, the county said.
Along with the cases, the county said 21 new hospitalizations were associated with the virus.
On Sunday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health added 660 new COVID-19 cases, raising the statewide total to 124,460.
Another three deaths also were reported, increasing the figure to 7,468 since the pandemic began in March.
The new cases came from 18,278 test results reported through 10 p.m. Saturday. From Aug. 9 to Aug. 15, the state reported 5,708 positive results from 167,496 tests.
