The choice for president is clear
The Post- Gazette’s editorial “Biden’s Confusing Stand on Fracking” made salient points about the candidate’s conflicting positions on energy, particularly toward fracking. And while the editorial notes that “His message Monday in Pittsburgh was clear, but he’ll need to keep repeating it,” there are further details that need clarity!
First, how does the country replace production from oil and gas operations on federal lands? A practice known as federal leasing. Joe Biden has been clear on his opposition to the practice, but federal leasing contributes a significant portion of domestic oil and gas production and is materially important to making the U. S. a net energy exporter. A Biden solution would restrict domestic production and force America to increase its dependence on foreign energy sources.
Mr. Biden’s energy plan mentions union jobs 13 times but omits hard details. How would transitioning away from natural gas in support of 100% renewables for the electric grid help our state’s union workers?
Posturing for Pennsylvania’s voters is easy for the Biden campaign right now, but communities across our state want assurance that, as president, he would not jeopardize oil and natural gas production, its jobs, tax revenues, and community investment groups!
For Pennsylvania and America, the choice for president is clear.
