More positives hit Titans as league battles COVID

-

Another Tennessee Titans player, fullback Khari Blasingame, and another staff member have tested positive for the coronavirus, while the rest of the NFL returned no new positives Sunday, a person familiar with the situation said.

The Titans’ outbreak is now at 20 cases, with 18 positive tests returned since Tuesday with the addition of Blasingame to the COVID19/ Reserve list on Monday.

The results from around the rest of the league came as the NFL postponed the Patriots’ game at Kansas City to Monday night. New England starting quarterback Cam Newton and Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu were both added to the COVID- 19 reserve list.

Both teams endured more tests in the wake of Saturday’s positive results before a decision was made to play Monday night.

Browns

Halfback Nick Chubb, who was fourth in the league in rushing entering the week, injured his knee against Dallas. Chubb was injured when his right leg was rolled up on by a pair of opposing linemen. He limped to the locker room. Coach Kevin Stefanski said Chubb will have an MRI. He didn’t know the extent of the injury.

Chargers

Running back Austin Ekeler, who was eighth in the league in rushing, was carted off the field with a serious hamstring injury. Ekeler left the game against Tampa Bay late in the first quarter after hurting his hamstring breaking a tackle in the flat. “The way he limped off the field it was pretty bad,” said Chargers coach Anthony Lynn.

Texans

Coach Bill O’Brien put his hand on the side of his head as he searched for ways to explain yet another loss by his 0- 4 team. In the end he really didn’t have any answers, only a vow to try and be better. “We’ve just got to keep working,” he said. “There’s really no way out of it other than that. You have no choice.”
