DOWN AND DIRTY
Skylar King, a field staffer for Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, digs up annuals at a community flower garden on Brownsville Road in Mount Oliver on Friday. The conservancy maintains 130 community gardens. “Most neighborhoods in the city have one of our community gardens somewhere,” said Matt Jenkins, field tech for the conservancy. Mulch and perennials were left in place. “Tonight, we’re supposed to get a frost,” Mr. Jenkins said. “We’re just getting the garden ready for winter.”
