North Allegheny powers to victory

Unbeaten and top- ranked North Allegheny has accomplish­ed a lot this year, but there was one thing the Tigers had not done prior to Friday, and that was to register a shutout.

Check that off the list.

The Tigers overpowere­d CanonMcMil­lan on both sides of the ball and blanked the Big Macs, 35- 0, in the Quad County Conference.

North Allegheny ( 5- 0, 4- 0) had 330 yards of total offense, compared to 117 for the Big Macs ( 23, 2- 3). The Tigers did most of their damage through the air. Greg

Phillips was 17 for 23 with 240 yards and four touchdowns. Mason Kress hauled in nine catches for 92 yards and scored on receptions of 16 and 8 yards. Khalil Dinkins had four catches for 42 yards and a score. J. R. Burton hauled in an 84- yard scoring strike. Burton also scored on a 3yard run.

Canon- McMillan won the possession battle, maintainin­g the ball for 37: 07 compared to 19: 57 for North Allegheny.

More Class 6A

Mt. Lebanon 48, Norwin 14: The Blue Devils ( 3- 2, 3- 2) have won three of their past four after handling Norwin ( 1- 5, 1- 5) in the Quad County Conference. Mt. Lebanon churned out 228 yards on the ground and racked up 401 yards of offense. Norwin had 133 yards of total offense, with 106 yards coming through the air.

City League

Westinghou­se 30, University Prep 0: Westinghou­se has refused entry into the end zone to every opponent this season. The Bulldogs ( 4- 0, 4- 0) have blanked every opponent they have faced and outscored them by a combined 94- 0.
