Shenango rides second- half surge to beat OLSH

Undefeated Shenango maintained its lead in the Big Seven Conference Friday night by pulling away in the second half from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in a 4521 home victory.

Reis Watkins, the second- leading rusher in the WPIAL, scored the first two Wildcat touchdowns on runs of 70 and 5 yards in the first half. But No. 3- ranked Shenango ( 6- 0, 6- 0) only held a 27- 21 halftime lead over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart ( 4- 2, 4- 2).

Quarterbac­k Tino Campoli took over in the second half for Shenango, throwing touchdown passes of 26 and 23 yards to CJ Miller and Dalton Peters respective­ly. Watkins finished with 120 yards on eight carries.

As a team, the Wildcats rushed for 240 yards on 34 carries while rolling up 383 yards in total offense and 11 first downs.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was led by Jay Pearson, who rushed for 150 yards on 15 carries and scored on a 1- yard run. Pearson also scored a touchdown on a 98- yard kickoff return.

More Class 1A

Leechburg 76, Riverview 25: Brayon Lovelace rushed for 398 yards on 19 carries to lead the Blue Devils ( 3- 3, 3- 3), who scored in double- digits in every quarter, to rout the visiting Raiders ( 0- 6, 0- 6)

in the Eastern Conference. Lovelace scored four touchdowns. He scored on runs of 95, 85, 58 and 15 yards.

Union 43, Fort Cherry 42: Union ( 3- 3, 3- 3) rallied at home with a 16- 0 run in the fourth quarter to edge the Rangers ( 2- 4, 2- 4) in the Big Seven Conference. Jackson Clark scored late on a 1- yard run and Anthony Neal caught a 2point conversion pass from Tyler Staub for the winning points. Clark finished with 100 yards rushing.

West Greene 53, Brownsvill­e 12: Corey Wise rushed for 101 yards on four carries and scored on runs of 59 and 31 yards to lead the host Pioneers ( 2- 3) past the 3A Falcons ( 0- 6) in a non- conference game. West Greene originally was slated to play last night at home against Monessen and Brownsvill­e was scheduled to play at Southmorel­and.

Springdale 55, Imani Christian 8: The Dynamos ( 5- 1,5- 1) bounced back from their first loss of the season by routing the Saints ( 1- 5, 1- 5) in the Eastern Conference. Dimitri Fritch and Logan Dexter scored three touchdowns each for Springdale. Two of Fritch’s touchdowns came on pass receptions from Legend Ausk. Dexter scored on runs of 21 and 19 yards. He also returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown.

Jefferson- Morgan

Mapletown 13: The Rockets ( 3- 3, 3- 3) rallied to win at Mapletown ( 15, 1- 5) in a Tri- County South contest. Jonathan Wolfe rushed for 140 yards on 25 carries to lead Jefferson- Morgan. Wolfe scored on a 4- yard run in the third quarter after the Rockets trailed, 13- 8.

Class 2A

Beaver Falls 50, Freedom 14: Josh Hough rushed for 193 yards to lead the No. 1 Tigers ( 6- 0, 6- 0) past the Bulldogs ( 3- 3, 3- 3) in the Midwestern Conference. Hough scored on runs of 19, 16 and 94 yards. Shileak Livington added 167 yards rushing while also scoring three touchdowns.

Ligonier Valley 42, Waynesburg 7: Sophomore quarterbac­k Hayden Sierocky rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two more to lead the Rams ( 3- 3) to a non- conference rout of the host Raiders ( 0- 6). Ligonier Valley led, 27- 0, at halftime.

South Side Beaver 33, Brentwood 16: The Rams ( 2- 4, 2- 4) spotted the Spartans an early lead, but shut out Brentwood ( 2- 2, 3- 3) after the first quarter to claim a victory on the road in the Three Rivers Conference. Aden Almashy led South Side Beaver with 165 yards rushing while scoring five touchdowns.

Frazier 39, Beth- Center 0: The 20, Commodores ( 4- 1, 4- 2) routed the

host Bulldogs ( 1- 4, 1- 5) in the Century Conference. Kenny Fine led Frazier with 114 yards rushing and four touchdowns. One of his touchdowns came on a 13- yard reception from Dominick Dorcon.

Washington 39, Charleroi 0: No. 5 Washington ( 4- 2, 4- 1) blanked the Cougars ( 2- 4, 2- 4) in the Century Conference. Mike Allen led the Little Prexies with three touchdowns. Two of them came on short runs, with the third touchdown coming on a 40- yard intercepti­on return.

Riverside 27, Ellwood City 12:

The Panthers ( 2- 4, 2- 4) topped neighborho­od rival Ellwood City ( 06, 0- 6) in the Midwestern Conference. Samuel Hughes scored two rushing touchdowns and passed for another touchdown covering 30 yards to Calvin Hughes.

Burgettsto­wn 27, Northgate 7: Shane Kemper led the Blue Devils ( 3- 3, 3- 3) past the host Flames ( 06, 0- 6) by scoring the game’s first three touchdowns. Cole Shergi led Burgettsto­wn in rushing with 127 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown. Kemper finished with 95 yards rushing on 14 carries.
