Mars coach Heinauer hits 200 career victories

Mars coach Scott Heinauer and tailback Teddy Ruffner each reached milestones in the Planets’ 42- 21 victory against Greensburg Salem in a Greater Allegheny Conference game played at Mars.

Heinauer became the 33rd coach in WPIAL history to win 200 games. Heinauer, now in his 29th season, has a career record of 200- 109.

Ruffner joined the 4,000- yard rushing club with 245 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. He now has 4,227 career yards which ranks second in school history. He scored on runs of 8, 25, and 56 yards.

Mars is 5- 1 in the conference, 5- 1 overall, while Greensburg Salem drops to 1- 5 and 1- 5.

Belle Vernon 52, Trinity 14: Ian Whitlock scored four touchdowns and threw for another as the No. 2- ranked Leopards ( 4- 1, 41) pounded the host Hillers ( 3- 2, 2- 2) in the Big Eight Conference. Whitlock ran for three touchdowns, returned an intercepti­on 77 yards for a score, and connected with Ian Maloney on another.

Chartiers Valley 54, Beaver 7: Anthony Mackey threw for a touchdown and ran for two more to lead the No. 5- ranked Colts ( 41, 2- 1) to an easy win against the visiting Bobcats ( 1- 3, 0- 2) in the Parkway Conference. Mackey completed 9 of 11 passes for 191 yards and connected with Jordan

Demus on a 3- yard scoring pass.

Hampton 42, Indiana 14: Gage Galuska scored two touchdowns to lead the Talbots ( 4- 2, 4- 2) in a convincing road victory against the Little Indians ( 2- 4, 2- 4) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Galuska caught a 39- yard touchdown pass from Matt DeMatteo and scored on a 5- yard run.

Highlands 34, Armstrong 27: The Golden Rams ( 3- 3, 3- 3) score 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the host River Hawks ( 3- 3, 3- 3) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Armtrong’s Cadin Olsen threw 276 yards and four touchdowns in a losing effort.

Class 3A

North Catholic 56, Deer Lakes 6: Kyle Tipinski scored three touchdowns while

Joey Prentice and Isaiah Jackson each scored twice as the No. 2- ranked Trojans ( 60, 5- 0) dominated the host Lancers ( 0- 6, 06) in the Allegheny Seven Conference.

Avonworth 21, Hopewell 13: Nate Harper threw two touchdown passes as the visiting Antelopes ( 4- 2, 3- 1) defeated the Vikings ( 2- 4, 2- 2) in the Northweste­rn Six Conference. Harper connected with Neo Miller and Peyton Faulkner on scoring passes of 39 and 38 yards. The Antelopes also scored on a 25- yard run by Ian Syam.

Valley 32, Yough 14: Cayden Quinn threw two touchdown passes to lead the Vikings ( 23) to a non- conference win against the visiting Cougars ( 1- 5). The first came on a 33yard hook- and- lateral play that included Elijah Murray and Jeremiah Johnson.
