Mars coach Hein­auer hits 200 ca­reer vic­to­ries

Mars coach Scott Hein­auer and tail­back Teddy Ruffner each reached mile­stones in the Plan­ets’ 42- 21 vic­tory against Greens­burg Salem in a Greater Al­legheny Con­fer­ence game played at Mars.

Hein­auer be­came the 33rd coach in WPIAL his­tory to win 200 games. Hein­auer, now in his 29th sea­son, has a ca­reer record of 200- 109.

Ruffner joined the 4,000- yard rush­ing club with 245 yards and three touch­downs on 25 car­ries. He now has 4,227 ca­reer yards which ranks sec­ond in school his­tory. He scored on runs of 8, 25, and 56 yards.

Mars is 5- 1 in the con­fer­ence, 5- 1 over­all, while Greens­burg Salem drops to 1- 5 and 1- 5.

Belle Ver­non 52, Trin­ity 14: Ian Whit­lock scored four touch­downs and threw for an­other as the No. 2- ranked Leop­ards ( 4- 1, 41) pounded the host Hillers ( 3- 2, 2- 2) in the Big Eight Con­fer­ence. Whit­lock ran for three touch­downs, re­turned an in­ter­cep­tion 77 yards for a score, and con­nected with Ian Maloney on an­other.

Chartiers Val­ley 54, Beaver 7: An­thony Mackey threw for a touch­down and ran for two more to lead the No. 5- ranked Colts ( 41, 2- 1) to an easy win against the vis­it­ing Bob­cats ( 1- 3, 0- 2) in the Park­way Con­fer­ence. Mackey com­pleted 9 of 11 passes for 191 yards and con­nected with Jor­dan

De­mus on a 3- yard scor­ing pass.

Hamp­ton 42, In­di­ana 14: Gage Galuska scored two touch­downs to lead the Tal­bots ( 4- 2, 4- 2) in a con­vinc­ing road vic­tory against the Lit­tle In­di­ans ( 2- 4, 2- 4) in the Greater Al­legheny Con­fer­ence. Galuska caught a 39- yard touch­down pass from Matt DeMat­teo and scored on a 5- yard run.

High­lands 34, Arm­strong 27: The Golden Rams ( 3- 3, 3- 3) score 16 unan­swered points in the fourth quar­ter to de­feat the host River Hawks ( 3- 3, 3- 3) in the Greater Al­legheny Con­fer­ence. Armtrong’s Cadin Olsen threw 276 yards and four touch­downs in a los­ing ef­fort.

Class 3A

North Catholic 56, Deer Lakes 6: Kyle Tip­in­ski scored three touch­downs while

Joey Pren­tice and Isa­iah Jack­son each scored twice as the No. 2- ranked Tro­jans ( 60, 5- 0) dom­i­nated the host Lancers ( 0- 6, 06) in the Al­legheny Seven Con­fer­ence.

Avon­worth 21, Hopewell 13: Nate Harper threw two touch­down passes as the vis­it­ing An­telopes ( 4- 2, 3- 1) de­feated the Vik­ings ( 2- 4, 2- 2) in the North­west­ern Six Con­fer­ence. Harper con­nected with Neo Miller and Pey­ton Faulkner on scor­ing passes of 39 and 38 yards. The An­telopes also scored on a 25- yard run by Ian Syam.

Val­ley 32, Yough 14: Cay­den Quinn threw two touch­down passes to lead the Vik­ings ( 23) to a non- con­fer­ence win against the vis­it­ing Cougars ( 1- 5). The first came on a 33yard hook- and- lat­eral play that in­cluded Eli­jah Mur­ray and Jeremiah John­son.
