Communities to team up on snow removal efforts
Crews, equipment, salt to be exchanged
Scott Township has joined Collier Township for a snow removal program.
Scott manager Denise Fitzgerald said if the township becomes understaffed due to COVID-19, a neighboring community would be able to assist with snow removal on major roads. The Bridgeville and Heidelberg communities are included.
If called out to a neighboring community, Scott workers would use the township’s equipment and salt. Ms. Fitzgerald said the township will track the salt usage so the benefitting community can reciprocate by restocking the materials.
“We’re transferring salt and not money,” Ms. Fitzgerald said.
The agreement also states Scott employees would still be covered under the township’s insurance policy while working in another community.

The board announced no rentals of park facilities will be allowed until further notice, including reservations that have already been made. Those with reservations will be notified of the cancellation.
Commissioner Bill Wells said one of the reasons for the change is “because people don’t follow the rules” and too many people have been gathering at park facilities.
Commissioners approved a new LED sign for the Bower Hill Volunteer Fire Department. The sign will be in the same spot as the existing sign in front of the fire department on Vanadium Road.
