Bounteous relocating to Highline space

Firm plans expansion of its Pittsburgh office

A historic cargo warehouse on the South Side built to accommodate cars, barges and trains will soon be home to a company that deals with another form of transportation: digital.

Chicago-based Bounteous is nearly doubling the size of its Pittsburgh office by relocating to the old complex, which has been redeveloped by McKnight Realty Partners and is now known as the Highline.

The company, which specializes in web design and other digital offerings, will be taking 13,261 square feet in the Highline West Building.

That’s up from the just over 7,000 square feet it now uses in its 50-person office at South 18th Street, also on the South Side. Bounteous employees are by and large working from home right now because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In announcing the relocation, which will take place in May, Bounteous stated that it is hoping to increase employment by 40%.

“We can’t wait to continue to grow our Pittsburgh presence alongside the community at The Highline,” said Jon Meck, Bounteous’ vice president of marketing.

“We’ve been a part of the local tech scene since 2004, and our growth as Bounteous has allowed us to continue to give back to our community, as well as attract talent and customers in Pittsburgh and beyond.”

The old warehouse won’t be entirely new for some of those at Bounteous. LunaMetrics, a Pittsburgh-based web analytics and digital marketing services firm that is now part of the company, once had its offices there.

Representing both McKnight and Bounteous in the relocation was the Jones Lang LaSalle real estate firm.

Completed in 1906, the cargo warehouse, which previously was known as the River Walk Corporate Centre, at one time was considered the largest such facility between New York City and Chicago.

McKnight has converted the five-building complex totaling 486,683 square feet into creative office and retail space. It also has transformed an asphalt street that runs through the property to the Monongahela River into a public park with views of the Downtown skyline.

Other amenities include a 1-acre public patio on the riverfront converted from a former rail switchyard, a 30-seat conference training center and lounge, a 584space parking garage, a fitness facility and a connection to the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

“This commitment from Bounteous shows that creative office space with unparalleled outdoor views and venues continue to be in high demand from the innovation generation,” said Izzy Rudolph, McKnight’s president of development and acquisitions.
