Class 2A: Wrestlers to watch

In alphabetic­al order with last season’s record and career record. • Ethan Barr, McGuffey (Sr., 45-9, 110-25) — Barr is a two-time WPIAL runner-up, three-time Southwest Region qualifier and onetime PIAA qualifier. He placed seventh in the WPIAL as a 145pound freshman, second at 152 pounds as a sophomore and second at 170 last season. He earned a PIAA medal by placing fifth in the region last season.

• Chase Brandebura, Carlynton (So., 35-8, 35-8) — Brandebura won a WPIAL title at 106 pounds in his varsity debut. He also placed fourth in the Southwest Region and posted a 1-2 record at the PIAA tournament.

• A.J. Corrado, Burrell (Sr., 45-8, 122-35) — Corrado, a Brown recruit, is a three-time PIAA placewinne­r. He placed fourth in the WPIAL, fourth in the Southwest Region and seventh in the PIAA as a 132-pound freshman. As a sophomore, he placed second in the WPIAL, sixth in the region and fifth in the PIAA at 138 pounds. Last season, he won a WPIAL title and placed second in the region and PIAA at 152 pounds.

• Patrick Cutchember, Quaker Valley (Jr., 40-11, 70-16) — Cutchember is a two-time WPIAL runner-up and one-time PIAA placewinne­r. He placed second in the WPIAL as a 160-pound freshman. Last season, he moved up to 182 pounds and placed second in the WPIAL and Southwest Region and seventh in the PIAA.

• Ty Cymmerman, Derry (Sr., 39-8, 121-22) — Cymmerman is a three-time WPIAL champion, three-time Southwest Region runnerup and three-time PIAA qualifier. He competed at 120 and 126 the past two seasons. He finished fourth in the PIAA as a sophomore and sixth last season.

• Kenny Duschek, Blackhawk (Sr., 43-8, 116-32) — Duschek was a three-time PIAA qualifier at Freedom, but has since transferre­d to Blackhawk. Duschek, a Columbia recruit, placed second in the WPIAL and sixth in the Southwest Region as a 120-pound freshman. He moved up to 138 as a sophomore and placed third in the WPIAL and fifth in the region. Last year, he won a WPIAL title, placed fourth in the region and third in the state at 138 pounds.

• Joey Fischer, South Park (Sr., 44-3, 117-13) — Fischer, a Clarion recruit, is a three-time WPIAL finalist and two-time champion. He placed second in the WPIAL and second in the Southwest Region as a 106-pound freshman. As a sophomore, he won WPIAL and region titles before placing fourth in the PIAA, also at 106. Last season, he moved up to 113 and won WPIAL and region titles before placing second in the state.

• Luke Geibig, Mount Pleasant (Jr., 36-16, 68-30) — Geibig is a two-time WPIAL runner-up and two-time PIAA qualifier. He placed second in the WPIAL and fifth in the Southwest Region as a 106pound freshman. Last season, he moved up to 113 and placed second in the WPIAL and sixth in the region.

• Shane Kemper, Burgettsto­wn (Sr., 39-13, 108-34) — Kemper is a two-time WPIAL runner-up and three-time PIAA qualifier. He placed second in the WPIAL and fifth in the Southwest Region as a 113-pound freshman. As a sophomore, he moved up to 145 and placed second in the WPIAL and fourth in the region. Last season, he placed third in the WPIAL, fourth in the region and sixth in the PIAA.

• Grant MacKay, Laurel (So., 39-12, 39-12) — MacKay transferre­d to Laurel after qualifying for the PIAA Class 3A tournament as a freshman at North Allegheny. He placed second in Section 3 and third in the WPIAL at 152 pounds, then lost two of three bouts at Hershey.

• Mitch Miles, Laurel (Sr., 37-3, 90-19) — Miles is a three-time WPIAL placewinne­r and one-time champ at 285 pounds. Miles placed fourth in the WPIAL as a freshman, third as a sophomore and first last season. He also placed second in the Southwest Region and posted a 2-2 record at Hershey last season.

• Ian Oswalt, Burrell (Sr., 45-7, 140-21) — Oswalt, a Brown recruit, is a three-time WPIAL champion and three-time PIAA placewinne­r. He placed third in the Southwest Region and fourth in the PIAA as a 113-pound freshman. As a sophomore, he won a region title and placed fifth in the PIAA at 120 pounds. Last season, he moved up to 132 pounds and won his third WPIAL title and placed second in the region and state.

• Dayton Pitzer, Mount Pleasant (Jr., 0-0, 43-1) — Pitzer missed last season with an injury after an incredible debut as a 182pound freshman. He won WPIAL, Southwest Region and PIAA titles. He was the 17th WPIAL freshman to win a PIAA title and the first in a weight class above 152 pounds. He returns this season with a clean bill of health.

• Conner Redinger, Quaker Valley (Sr., 34-8, 107-20) — Redinger is a three-time WPIAL finalist and two time champ, and a two-time PIAA qualifier. As a 106-pound freshman, he won WPIAL and Southwest Region titles and placed third in the PIAA. He moved up to 132 as a sophomore and won a second WPIAL title, then placed sixth in the region and made a quick exit from the PIAA tournament. Last season, he placed second in the WPIAL at 152, then pulled out of the regional tournament with an injury. • Trent Schultheis, Freedom (Sr., 39-6, 115-29) — Schultheis is a three-time WPIAL champion and three-time PIAA placewinne­r. He placed eighth in the PIAA as a 152-pound freshman, second at 182 as a sophomore and fourth at 170 last season. He is also a two-time Southwest Region finalist and one-time champ.
