GAME-DAY NOTES

-

Facts, figures and storylines for Week 15: WITH A WIN against the Giants (8:20 p.m., WPXI), the Browns secure only their second 10-win season since returning to the NFL in 1999. Cleveland is favored by 6. FYI: They’ve scored 40 points in consecutive games for the first time since 1969.

WHAT IS it about longevity and long snappers? Cowboys long snapper L.P. Ladouceur will play in his 251st game, setting a record for regular-season games played by a Canadian-born player. He will pass Eddie Murray, who kicked for seven teams from 1980-2000.

KYLER MURRAY (Cardinals) crosses paths with Jalen Hurts (Eagles). Should we expect the Sooner Schooner to race onto the field after either scores? Murray started at QB for Oklahoma in 2018. Hurts succeeded him in 2019.

WITH THREE touchdown passes vs. Houston, Colts QB Philip Rivers will tie Dan Marino (420) for fifth in NFL history.

KANSAS CITY ’S

Travis Kelce, a tight end, leads the NFL in receiving yards. But this statistic might be even more impressive: Of his 90 receptions, 67 have gone for first downs.

TH E NFL’S No. 1 defense (Rams, 285.8 ypg) faces the NFL’s worst offense (Jets, 269.8 ypg, 14.1 ppg). No wonder that the Rams are favored by 171⁄ 2 points. Perhaps the wonder should be: Why isn’t it more? EAGLES RB Miles Sanders (Woodland Hills), who had an 82-yard TD run last week vs. New Orleans, is the first player with three runs of 70-plus yards in a season since Jamaal Charles, Charles Johnson and Adrian Peterson did it in 2012.

AND FINALLY, Lions C Frank Ragnow easily takes home the blue ribbon for injury of the week: Fractured throat. Seriously. It’s a thing. It occurred in the first quarter last Sunday vs. Green Bay. Still, while he will not play vs. Tennessee, he played all 68 snaps vs. the Packers. Per the Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, it typically is the product of trauma associated with strangulation.
