Jordan, 19, was freshman star
Utah officials announced Saturday that freshman running back Ty Jordan died late Fridaynight in what police reportedly said might have been an accidental shooting of himself.He was 19.
The Denton Police Department in Texas said officers responded to a shooting call at 10:38 p.m. Friday. Officers discovered a gunshot victim who had been shot one time. After life-saving measures were applied, the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Following a preliminary investigation, we do believe that this was an accidental shooting, where the victim accidentally shot himself,” the Denton Police said in a statement.
Jordan, the Pac-12 Confer-enceoffensive freshman of the year after running for 597 yards with six touchdowns on 83 carries in five games for the Utes, was from Mesquite, Texas. He was named to the All-Pac-12second team.
Utah finished 3-2 and was not scheduled to play in a bowl game

another senior season, taking advantage of the NCAA rule that essentially gave all college athletes another year of eligibility in response to the hardships caused by the coronavirus pandemic. His decision likely means Miami will enter next season as a top contenderin the ACC.

North Carolina star runningback Javonte Williams is opting out of the Orange Bowl Jan.2 against Texas A&M and will enter the 2021 NFL draft, he said Saturday. Williams rushed for 1,140 yards on 157 carries with 19 touchdowns this season. He made history with teammate Michael Carter earlier this month as thy combined for 544 rushing yards against Miami — an NCAArecord for teammates.
