A 2020 historical drama that chronicles the true story of the Houston riot of 1917. The film takes its title from the name of a Black military regiment that is targeted for racial discrimination by the all-white Houston police force, as well as the city’s white residents.

Mel Brooks made his directorial debut and won an Oscar for writing this 1968 classic, wherein Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder portray a Broadway producer and his sidekick who hatch a plan to cash in by producing a surefire flop called “Springtime for Hitler.” Chaos ensues when the show improbably becomes a blockbuster hit.
