Education
Wanda Heading-Grant was selected as Carnegie Mellon University’s inaugural vice provost for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and chief diversity officer. Ms. Heading-Grant, who is currently vice president for DEI at the University of Vermont, will begin her role at Carnegie Mellon on April 1. She will also hold a faculty appointment as Distinguished Service Professor in the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
Robert Morris University named Kevin Hearn its next vice president for enrollment management, effective Feb. 8.
Foundation
Spilman Thomas & Battle announced that Ron Schuler, member in charge and chair of its securities law practice group, was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Health
Allegheny Health Network appointed Robert Twaddle as vice president of prehospital care services.
Phil Barr was appointed chief growth officer at Gateway Health Plan Inc.
Law
Ryan A. Hauck was promoted to shareholder at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin. A member of the workers’ compensation department, Mr. Hauck defends employers, insurance companies and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters.
Burns White LLC promoted Kathleen P. Dapper and Daniel W. Inadomi to members. Ms. Dapper focuses her practice on litigation. Mr. Inadomi focuses his practice on commercial litigation, insurance coverage and extracontractual litigation, and financial institution litigation.

United States Steel Corp. appointed Scott M. Dorn as interim head of tubular solutions.

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh announced that Gretchen Baker was appointed the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Director of Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

Limbach Holdings Inc. announced that Melissa DiMuro was appointed chief people and culture officer.
Technology
Seegrid Corp. hired Jay Link to the newly created role of chief revenue officer.
Awards and Honors
The Event Service Professionals Association honored Kristen Turner, director of
convention services at VisitPittsburgh, with the Leadership in Services award at its virtual annual conference. Ms. Turner developed a health and safety initiative, Pittsburgh Commitment, that brought together event organizers, venue partners and health care professionals along with local and national protocols to create a path forward during the pandemic.

Kelly Strayhorn Theater and PearlArts are partnering to re-establish East Liberty as a hub for the Pittsburgh arts community. KST has two venues running along Penn Avenue. KST’s Alloy Studios (formerly Dance Alloy) is a center for dance and art incubation at the nexus of Friendship, Garfield and East Liberty, and the historic Kelly Strayhorn Theater is located in the East Liberty business district. PearlArts is the creative space for Staycee Pearl dance project & Soy Sos to develop multimedia dancecentered works and serve the greater Pittsburgh area and beyond with artistic opportunities, including movement residencies, creative collaborations and dance education.
The U.S. Air Force will provide $313,000 to the University of Pittsburgh for a broadband dielectric spectrometer through the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program. The acquisition was made by a five-faculty team led by Jennifer Laaser, assistant professor of chemistry, and includes Susan Fullerton, associate professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at Pitt’s Swanson School of Engineering.
