How far will we go for fairness?

-

We believe in fairness, right? It’s the American way. We believe things should be fair. It’s a principle entrenched in our character and something on which our country’s founding was based.

With that said, I want to be first to call out, “Impeach 46!” Didn’t we hear something like this from the moment Donald Trump was elected? Oh wait, I waited until after the inauguration. What’s wrong with me!

When new to law enforcement, a supervisor trained me and described behavior that was ill-advised, inappropriate or stupid by saying, “Don’t be that guy!” Hold on to that thought.

Now Joe Biden is president; for the sake of fairness, should those on the political right now create a false and lying dossier, with foreign assistance, of course, to be used in an investigation against him? This would only be fair, right?

Can’t we impeach Mr. Biden for standing up for American interests if he becomes concerned about someone using political office for dishonest gain? Oops, can’t do that! It would blow a gaping hole in the rationale for impeachment when what Mr. Biden was concerned about becomes part of an FBI investigation.

Can’t we impeach Mr. Biden for the actions of others after he clearly charged them to be peaceful? Can’t we accuse him of inciting people with a speech when rioting started before the speech?

Can’t we simply do what these guys have done? Wouldn’t it only be fair? No, for the sake of truth, decency and our country — no, let’s not be those guys! DAVID YELLE Mount Pleasant
