Former Trinity standout Kotchman No. 5 scorer in Division II at 23.2
Sierra Kotchman is having one of the best seasons of any NCAA DIvision II women’s basketball player in the country. Kotchman, a senior at Fairmont State (W.Va.) and former Trinity High School star, is the No. 5 scorer in the country in Division II at 23.2 points a game. In a victory against Frostburg State last Saturday, she became the Mountain East Conference all-time leading scorer with 2,004 career points. She is shooting 87% from the free-throw line this season.
Big Ten champion Perretta hasn’t lost a step since days at Beaver Falls
Domenic Perretta is a Big Ten Conference champion. Perretta, a senior at Penn State and Beaver Falls graduate, won the 800-meter run at the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend in Geneva, Ohio. Perretta won by .01 second to give him his second Big Ten 800 indoor title (the other was in 2019). At Beaver Falls, Perretta became the first runner to win state championships in the 800 and 1,600 three consecutive years.
Saint Francis wraps up season with Laskey as leader in 3-point shots
Bryce Laskey was a redshirt sophomore guard on the Saint Francis (Pa.) basketball team. A season that started with a victory against Pitt ended last week with a 72-65 loss to Mount St. Mary’s in the final Northeast Conference game. Saint Francis finished with a 6-16 record. Laskey, a former standout at Laurel Highlands who averaged 33 points as a senior, played 18 games and started 16. He averaged 7.5 points and led the team in 3-point shots with 28.
