Pennsylvania on Thursday saw an increase of 2,652 new cases of COVID-19 and 51 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.

The latest numbers bring the state’s total to 958,382 cases of the virus, resulting in 24,490 people’s deaths.

This comes as Pennsylvania has administered 3.2 million doses of vaccine, according to the Department of Health, an increase of almost 115,000 in one day.

Statewide, more than 2.1 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine; some vaccines require two doses.

Mass vaccinations in Western Pennsylvania also continue, with

Dick’s Sporting Goods and Allegheny Health Network holding a clinic Friday to vaccinate over 6,000 people. All spots for the clinic have been filled.

The health network said it has administered 140,000 vaccine doses in total.

But vaccine supply continues to fall short of demand, and the pandemic is still far from over. Although new cases in the state appear to have plateaued, there are still thousands of infections and dozens of deaths reported every day.

In Allegheny County, the local health department reported 240 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

The county also added 19 deaths from the virus, but 10 dated back to

February. Some of the deaths were imported from the state’s Electronic Death Reporting System, the county said.

One of the decedents was in their 30s, three were in their 40s, two were in their 50s, four were in their 60s, four more were in their 70s, three were in their 80s and two were in their 90s.

In total, the county has seen 79,154 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020, sending 5,350 to the hospital and leading to 1,722 deaths.

The state Department of Health reports county vaccine providers have given 252,366 people at least one shot against COVID-19.
