Local singer Jessa Pontier gets ‘Confident’ on Future Youth Records’ ‘Think Women’

Jessa Pontier continues to gain national recognition for her vocal and songwriting skills. Ms. Pontier, 18, of Apollo, who was once declared “Adele prodigy” by Denver-based nonprofit Robbie’s Hope, just had her song “Confident” featured on
“Think Women,” a new album from nonprofit label Future Youth Records.
“It’s definitely an amazing experience,” she said of her song being selected for the album. “It still brings me as much joy as it did before to get my music out there and for everyone to hear the lyrics and relate.”
“Confident” is one of five songs on “Think Women,” which was released March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day. Its overall female-empowerment theme is part of Future
Youth Records’ mission to help foster the music careers of Generation Z women.
“Dear Lord,” Ms. Pontier’s previous signature tune that has won her multiple singer-songwriter competitions nationwide, was about keeping the faith during dark, uncertain times. “Confident” is more about being comfortable with oneself in a world that often tries to tear people down, especially young women.
“I wrote it just mainly for the fact there are a lot of people who are down on themselves right now,” Ms. Pontier said. “There are a lot of beauty standards and stuff like that. I think there should be a lot more people who accept themselves for the way that they are.”
Keep an eye on this one, folks. You’ll probably hear more and more about Ms. Pontier as she continues racking up accolades and her songs become available to a wider audience.
