Rosters for the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic are announced.

In 2018, Dylan Chappell attended the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic to watch his Seneca Valley teammate Louis Newell wrestle for the WPIAL All- Star Team in its preliminary match against a team of Iowa All-Stars.

“It was so exciting to watch the top wrestlers from the WPIAL, Pennsylvania and the country,” said Chappell, who was a freshman at the time. “It made me think maybe I could wrestle in The Classic my senior year.”

Chappell now is a senior and will get his chance to wrestle April 2 in The Classic.

“It’s an honor to be chosen,” said Chappell, who will wrestle at 132 pounds for the Pennsylvania All-Star Team in the feature match against the United States All-Star Team. “I’m looking forward to it. It’s a great way to end my high school career.”

Chappell ( 164- 26) is a three-time WPIAL Class 3A champ and a three-time PIAA runner-up.

“It hurts a little bit to have not won a PIAA title, but I did make it to the finals three times,” Chappell said. “I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish in my career.”

Chappell’s opponent is Chance Lamer, a Michigan recruit and three-time Oregon state champion ranked No. 3 in the country by Flowrestling.com. Chappell is ranked No. 19.

“I also get to compete with Alejandro one more time,” said Chappell, referring to Seneca Valley teammate Alejandro Herrera-Rondon, who will join him on the Pennsylvania All- Star Team.

Herrera-Rondon (175-14), a three-time WPIAL and three-time PIAA champion who is ranked No. 3 nationally, will face Victor Voinovich, a two-time Ohio state champion ranked No. 1 in the country.

Chappell and HerreraRondon are two of six WPIAL wrestlers on the Pennsylvania All- Star Team.

Waynesburg has two entries — Wyatt Henson and Luca Augustine.

Henson (159-20) is a threetime state champion, including two in PIAA Class 3A. His most recent title came at 145 pounds. His opponent is Blair Academy’s Shayne Van Ness, who is ranked No. 2 in the country. Henson, the son of former U.S. Olympian Sammy Henson, is ranked No. 3.

Augustine (122-24), the PIAA Class 3A champion, is ranked No. 8 at 170 pounds. His opponent is Dillon Walker, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who is ranked No. 18.

The other two WPIAL entries on the Pennsylvania All-Star Team are South Park’s Joey Fischer and Burrell’s A.J. Corrado.

Fischer (142-13) is a twotime PIAA Class 2A finalist who won a title at 126 pounds last weekend. His opponent is top-ranked Drake Ayala, of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Fischer is ranked No. 20.

Corrado (155-35) is a twotime PIAA Class 2A finalist and one-time champ who is ranked No. 17 at 160 pounds. His opponent is No. 5-ranked Enrique Munguia of Elyria, Ohio.

The event will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe, Washington County. Only the participants and their parents will be allowed to attend the event due to COVID-19 restrictions, as they can have only 250 people in attendance.
