Traffic watch
Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Boundary Street/Pittsburgh: Closed until April 4 between Joncaire Street and South Neville Street in Oakland for utility work.
2. Henderson Street/North Side: Alternating traffic during wall construction. Fountain Street closed between Shockoe Way and Henderson. Henderson restricted to a narrow lane east of Fountain.
3. Perry Highway/Marshall: Daily single-lane closures in both directions between Thorn Hill Road and Warrendale Bayne Road, 6 a.m.-5 p.m., through fall 2022. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is building a new bridge pier where the turnpike crosses over Perry Highway.
4. Saxonburg Road/Fawn, Harrison: Closed indefinitely in both directions between Route 908 and Freeport Road. Local traffic permitted.
5. East Carson Street/ Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions between Arlington Avenue and 22nd Street weekdays 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. through late August. Parking and sidewalk restrictions will continue between Fifth Street and 22nd Street around the clock.
6. Noblestown Road/Oakdale Borough: Closed between Hill Road and Gregg Station Road until further notice. Detour posted.
7. Dooker’s Hollow Bridge/ North Braddock/East Pittsburgh: Closed until December for replacement.
8. O’Connell Boulevard/ North Braddock: Closed beneath the Dooker’s Hollow Bridge for continuing work on the bridge.
9. Jerome Street Bridge/ McKeesport: Single lane in each direction between Romine Avenue and Gibson Way through late March.
10. Route 28/O’Hara: Traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. , both directions between Route 910 Harmar (Exit 11) offramp and the Gamma Drive onramp for overheard wire work.
11. Way Hollow Road/
Edgeworth, Sewickley Heights: Closed indefinitely between Woodland and Backbone roads.
12. Sixth Avenue/Rankin: Closed between Kenmawr Avenue and Duquesne Way through late summer.
13. Route 136/Elizabeth: Long-term closure between Route 51 in Forward and Long Hollow Road.
14. Mansfield Avenue/ Green Tree: Single-lane alternating traffic between Holiday Drive and Trumbull Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late June for sidewalk and curb work.
15. South Park Road/ Bethel Park: Single-lane, alternating traffic between Thornwood and Buttonwood drives from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through April 30. Utility pole installation, traffic signal improvements, milling and paving, and roadway widening for left turn lanes at the intersection with Logan Road.
16. Route 8/Shaler: Lane restrictions in both directions starting Monday between Butler Plank Road and East Pennview Avenue. Gas line replacement work will be done between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays through April 20.
17. Thoms Run Road/Collier: Closed near its intersection with Forsythe Road beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday until sometime in May for replacement of Chartiers Creek Bridge No. 23.
18. Boston Hollow Road/ Elizabeth: Single-lane alternating traffic between Pierce Road and Lovedale Road, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through early September for waterline installation.
19. Logan Road/Bethel Park: Single-lane alternating traffic at the intersection of South Park Road, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday through April 30 for improvement work.
20. Evergreen Road/ Millvale: Closed starting Monday through mid-October between Klopfer Street and East Ohio Street for waterline work.
21. McLaughlin Run Road/ Upper St. Clair: Single-lane restrictions at the intersection of McMillian Road/Lesnett Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through April 2. Work includes widening the existing roadway, pipe work and installing temporary traffic signals.
22. Perry Highway/Pine: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Wallace Road and Nicholas Drive, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late June. Private crews conducting roadway, driveway and other modifications at the Wexford Health & Wellness Pavilion.
23. Route 30/East McKeesport, East Pittsburgh, North Versailles: Single-lane restrictions in various locations between Electric Avenue in East Pittsburgh and Route 48 in North Versailles and Lenox Avenue in Forest Hills and Route 48 in North Versailles, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late May.
24. I-579/Pittsburgh: Intermittent daylight ramp closures on the “Cap” Urban Connector project, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Friday. Detours posted. Also, shoulder restriction on ramps connecting I-579 and Route 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
25. Herron Avenue/Pittsburgh: Pavement work starting Monday will require full closures between Cargill Street and Bigelow Boulevard from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday.
26. Tarentum Bridge/ Tarentum: Single-lane closure on the ramp that carries westbound traffic from the Tarentum Bridge to Freeport Road on the northern end of the span over East Fourth Avenue, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. A lane of traffic will be maintained as crews conduct drainage work.
27. Elizabeth Bridge/Elizabeth, West Elizabeth boroughs: Single-lane restrictions in each direction on the bridge and associated ramps, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through late April, for bridge inspection. Additionally, lane restrictions will occur on Route 837 beneath various ramps during the same time frame.
28. Delafield, Lexington avenues/Aspinwall: Work on the Route 28 Highland Park Bridge Interchange project will mean single-lane alternating traffic between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday through late August.
29. Mayview Road/South Fayette: Bridge over a branch of Chartiers Creek will be replaced, with work beginning Monday. Part of Mayview between Boyce Road and Georgetown Road will close to through traffic. Detour posted.
30. Fort Duquesne Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Lane restriction on the bridge approach from Route 65 and I-279 (Parkway North), 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge inspection. Southbound I-279 approach to the bridge, Monday through Thursday. Southbound Route 65 approach to the bridge Tuesday through Thursday.
