Noteworthy: The Penguins (1811-1, 37 points) are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Devils, their second consecutiv­e loss. It’s the first time since Feb. 1 and Feb. 6 that the Penguins lost two consecutiv­e games. They’ll look to avoid their first three-game skid of the year. … With Evgeni Makin out, the focus shifts even more to Sidney Crosby. Last season, Crosby recorded 6 goals, 12 assists and 18 points in 12 games without Malkin in the lineup. … Kris Letang picked up another two assists Thursday in New Jersey, giving him 22 points on the season. Letang’s two-assist night was his sixth multi-point effort in 29 games. … Jake Guentzel scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season Thursday night in New Jersey. The goal was Guentzel’s fifth in his past six games. ... The Devils (10-13-4, 24 points) sit in seventh place in the parity-packed East Division. … They’re led by Pavel Zacha with 17 points, followed by Jack Hughes (16), P.K. Subban (14) and Ty Smith (14).
