A Baldwin Township reader shares a sweet drama in three acts.

-

My brother stopped to visit one day, and during the conversation said he ordered some candy from Sarris Candies and it should arrive in two to three days. First act of kindness.

This was Tuesday, Feb. 9, so I thought it would arrive before Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t here on that Friday, and I wondered if it would be here on Saturday and then forgot about it.

On Saturday, when I went to get the mail, I found an opened box on the table on my porch, and inside I saw the Sarris Valentine’s paper showing. I thought, “Strange,” and brought the box into the house. Inside was a postcard that read:

“Ms.Burke, this was deliveredto an address in Bloomfieldby mistake, and when I openedand saw the note, I knewI had to deliver it to you!

“Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day — Cassidy.” Second act of kindness.

It turns out the package was delivered to her by UPS with the incorrect ZIP code.

Itold my neighbor about this, and she said she happenedto be looking out the windowthat morning and sawa woman get out of a car parkedacross from my house, andas she was walking, it seemedshe had something in herhand that could have been thesize of a candy box.

Third act of kindness: My neighbor looking out for me, as always, including shoveling my sidewalk and driveway when it snows.

How lovely of Cassidy to come from Bloomfield to the South Hills to deliver the candy from my brother to ensure that I had a great Valentine’s Day.

Thank you, Cassidy.

I will try to send a thankyou note in hopes that she will receive it.

I really enjoy your section on goodness. BERNADETTE BURKE
