Fenway Park unkind to Cole

Rafael Devers hit two home runs, including a goahead blast in the fifth inning, to help the Boston Red Sox best New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole for the second consecutiv­e time at Fenway Park in a 6-2 win Friday night.

Devers followed his tworun with a three-run homer in the seventh — the 100th of his career.

It marked the second consecutiv­e game the Red Sox rallied from a 1-0 deficit and they earned their ninth victory against rival New York in 11 meetings this season. The Red Sox also maintained their one-game AL East lead over Tampa Bay and increased their lead to nine games over the third-place Yankees.

Cole (10-5) was pulled after fiving innings, giving up three runs off six hits, striking out eight and walking two. He now has surrendere­d five home runs at Fenway this season.

Padres 5, Marlins 2: Joe Musgrove (6-7) pitched six solid innings, Tommy Pham homered and San Diego beat host Miami. Musgrove allowed two runs and six hits.

Phillies 5, Braves 1: Zack Wheeler returned to his AllStar form for seven innings, Bryce Harper stole three bases, including home, and host Philadelph­ia snapped a three-game losing streak.

Reds 6, Cardinals 5: Tyler Stephenson drove in Kyle Farmer with a tiebreakin­g sacrifice fly in the eighth, rallying host Cincinnati past St. Louis.

Rays10, Indians 5: Nelson Cruz homered in his Tampa Bay debut and Joey Wendle hit a go-ahead single in a sixrun ninth as the Rays beat host Cleveland.

Brewers 7, White Sox 1: Tyrone Taylor hit a grand slam to cap host Milwaukee’s six-run outburst in the seventh.

Royals 5, Tigers 3: Ryan O’Hearn hit a three-run homer and host Kansas City ended Detroit’s 7-game winning streak.

Twins 5, Angels 4: Minnesota scored twice in the eighth inning to beat visiting Los Angeles, which didn’t have Shohei Ohtani in the lineup.

The New York Mets acquired left-hander Rich Hill from Tampa Bay for righthande­r Tommy Hunter and minor league catcher Matt Dyer. Hill, 41, was 6-4 with a 3.89 ERA in 19 starts for the Rays. … Stephen Strasburg, 33, has made only five starts this season because of neck and shoulder issues, hasn’t pitched since June 1 and felt discomfort in his neck after a recent bullpen session.
