Two teams with big aspirations for the postseason clashed for the second time in 2021.

The Riverhounds SC defeated Hartford Athletic, 31, at Highmark Stadium.

Forward Alex Dixon scored two goals and midfielder Louis Perez added the final goal at 87 minutes to lock the game away.

While the match shaped up to be important for playoff positioning, nothing will be settled this early in the season. The two teams meet twice more: August 28 in Hartford and in the season finale, Oct. 30 in Pittsburgh.

The Hounds are now riding a four match home win streak and have a mostly clean bill of health, with only defender Jordan Dover (lower body) and forward Josh Gatt (knee) on the injury report.
