- By Mick Stinelli

Shooter, one victim identified in Mt. Lebanon murder-suicide.

Officials on Friday released the identity of the Mt. Lebanon woman killed in an apparent double homicide police said was committed by her son, who later died by suicide.

The woman was identified as Ana Tratras, 59, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office. Although she was not publicly identified early Friday afternoon, property records show she owned the residence on Gilkeson Road with her 65-year-old husband,John Tratras.

Police said the two were killed early Thursday morning by their 25-yearold son, George Tratras, at their home.

Cause and manner of death were not released by the medical examiner, but neighbors said they heard several rounds of gunfire before police arrived at the scene.

County police said the younger Mr. Tratras called 911 and said he wished to turn himself in for the killings, but he began to open fire on police when they came to the residence to arrest him.

A Dormont police officer was shot as the officers returned fire, but he was wearing a bulletproof vest. A Mt. Lebanon police officer was also hurt, but both were released from local hospitals Thursday.

Mr. Tratras then fled and led authorities on a chase southbound on Route 19; the car crashed near the exit ramp from Route 19 to McLaughlin Run Road. Police said the younger Mr. Tratras had a single gunshot wound in the head that appeared to be self-inflicted.
