1957 The Carnegie Institute of Technology announced that it was purchasing 8 acres of property fronting on Forbes Street near Morewood Avenue for faculty and student residences.

1971 The Concert for Bangladesh, organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

1995 Westinghou­se Electric Corp., in a major shift of business emphasis, purchased CBS for $5.4 billion. 2020 The coronaviru­s forced baseball’s 17th postponeme­nt in 10 days, prompting at least two more players to opt out of playing during the shortened season.
