1949 The National Basketball Associatio­n was formed as a merger of the Basketball Associatio­n of America and the National Basketball League.

1979 A female jogger told police she was attacked under Panther Hollow Bridge near the area where Carol Jursik, a University of Pittsburgh graduate student, disappeare­d.

2002 Former Steelers receiver John Stallworth and East Brady, Clarion County, native Jim Kelly were inducted into the Profession­al Football Hall of Fame.
