OUR QUESTIONS, HIS ANSWERS

-

So you really have put on close to 100 pounds in two years? Yeah, that’s crazy (laugh).

How have you put this weight on? Obviously you lift weights, but what in the world do you eat? I eat like five times a day. It’s a lot of lifting and eating.

What’s something you can eat a lot? I can eat burgers all day. They’re my go-to food. I had three last night for dinner.

A kid who isn’t even a starter as a junior gets recruited by all these schools as a senior. How’d this happen? I started working with my dad in the offseason. We put together a drill tape of me and sent it out to schools along with some film when I did play last year. As soon as I got the first scholarship offer (from Nebraska in May), other schools started figuring out who I was.

Were you surprised? I was definitely surprised. I thought I’d have to do the whole college camp circuit thing to get offers.

It’s hard to believe you were a quarterback and safety only two years ago at North Catholic. I know. People can believe the quarterback thing, but not safety.

Can you lift more than your dad, pictured below? No, I can’t. Actually, maybe now I can because he’s had some injuries, so I might be able to lift more than him now.

What will he say when he sees this? That he’s still able to beat me up or something like that (laugh).

With all the controversy of coach [Eric] Kasperowicz being let go at Pine-Richland in the spring and a new staff coming in, have things quieted down some at Pine-Richland? Yes. At first, a lot of us were mad and trying to do everything to get Coach K back. At this point, the past is in the past. We’ve got coach [Steve] Campos and it’s a good staff. I’m excited. We just have to come together as a team and coaches and figure things out. That will come with time.
