FISHING REPORT

Lake Erie: Walleye were marked, but the bite was weak. On Tuesday, two Pittsburgh anglers trolling in 71-78 feet of water north of Walnut Creek kept eight walleye in the 20-25-inch range, taken at 40-45 feet on crawlers rigged to yellow and hot pink harnesses with watermelon blades. Yellow perch were at about 60 feet west of Shades Beach. Two weather buoys located off Presque Isle and Walnut Creek were back in operation. Pymatuning Reservoir (Crawford County): Crappies continued to be caught on live minnows in waters deeper than 15 feet. Walleye went for harnesses at 18 feet on the South End.

French Creek (Crawford County): The water level was down. Kayakers released two Northerns taken on crankbaits in early morning hours downstream from Utica.

Crooked Creek Lake (Armstrong County): Panfish were caught at the outflow.

Allegheny River (Armstrong County): Flatheads took small baitfish near Templeton. Good-size smallmouths were caught near Kittanning on soft plastics or crawlers.

Lake Arthur ( Butler County): Fishing was generally slow after a cold front and rain.

North Park Lake (Allegheny County): On and off rain kept many anglers at home.

Carnegie Lake (Allegheny County): During a family picnic celebrating the Aug. 6 birthday of Jasmine Simms, the Braddock woman caught and released a 13-inch channel cat in the Highland Park pond.

Monongahela River (Allegheny County): Last week, a shore fisherman released a muskie in the 30-inch range taken at night on a scored bluegill rigged 5 feet under the surface below the Elizabeth Lock and Dam.

Cross Creek Lake (Washington County): A few anglers weathered the rain. No catches were reported.
