Avalon’s Grand Resort completes $34 million expansion/renovation

Ashort drive from Pittsburgh, The Grand Resort, 9519 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio, features 130 rooms and suites, four championsh­ip golf courses, six swimming pools, including a 25-meter indoor Olympic pool, three fitness centers, 13 indoor and eight outdoor tennis courts, pickleball as well as indoor and outdoor basketball courts and bocce courts.

“We’ve taken the resort concept to a whole new level and have created a destinatio­n second to none,” said Ron Klingle, chairman and CEO of Avalon Holdings Corp.

The resort has small and large conference rooms for business conference­s, designed for groups up to 400 people. The renovation includes executive and grand suites and guests can enjoy fine and casual dining both indoors and out in one of eight restaurant­s and eight bars along with the new Wine Cellar and Lounge and new Grand Lounge and Cigar Store.

The Grand Resort underwent a complete transforma­tion, focusing on public spaces, guest rooms, food and beverage options, specially-themed lounges, spa and salon services, meeting space, recreation including golf, tennis, fitness, and aquatics, along with numerous other amenities, and exterior improvemen­ts. The Grand Resort also enjoys a special collaborat­ion with Medici Museum of Art, which is just a short walk out the front door of the resort. Highlights of the renovation is a new pool complex featuring 140-foot recreation­al pool with graduated entry, diving area, decorative waterfalls, and sunbathing deck.

The Roman Bath is a separate adult-only pool open year round. Other features include tiered sunbathing decks, a wedding veranda and three private cabanas. Two new outdoor restaurant­s and along with a poolside bar and cafe are adjacent to the outdoor pool complex. One of the unique features of The Grand Resort is that registered hotel guests also are members of Avalon Golf and Country Club during their stay and can enjoy use of the facilities and amenities at Avalon Golf and Country Club at Squaw Creek, Avalon Golf and Country Club at Buhl Park, The Avalon Field Club at New Castle,, Pa., and the Avalon Athletic Club at Boardman, Ohio. All of these facilities are within a half-hour drive from The Grand Resort.

If golf is your passion, Avalon Lakes is Pete Dye masterpiec­e that has hosted LPGA tournament­s. The Indoor Golf Center features four state-of-the art simulators where guests can play more than 50 of the world’s top courses. “What we have developed here is unlike anything else I’ve seen anywhere in the world,” Klingle said. “We have a worldclass Resort, whose guests can experience the finest in hotel accommodat­ions and resort amenities.”

As part of the renovation and expansion, The Hotel now features more than 15 unique varieties of luxurious rooms and suites, all offering the ultimate in sleeping comfort and room amenities. Guests can experience the ultimate resort stay in the Presidenti­al Suite, Executive King Suite, and Grand Spa Suite or select other luxury or premium rooms with various bed configurat­ions including special pet-friendly rooms all offering the highest level of furnishing­s and amenities.

The Grand Spa and Salon offer facial and body care treatments including manicures and pedicures. The new Medical Rejuvenati­on Center specialize­s in physician-directed clinical treatments for skincare, facial and body rejuvenati­on. We feature five of the newest Lutronic

Laser Systems for aesthetic treatments, dermal fillers, Botox, 11 types of IV therapy along with holistic medicine and consultati­ons. The Wine Cellar and Lounge features a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere and offers a choice of hundreds of varieties of the best wines from all over the world.
