Television shows you’ll want to watch this week

“Only Murders in the Building” — Broad comedy blends with a juicy mystery and an intriguing trio of stars in this charming 10-episode series. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez play residents of an upscale Manhattan apartment complex who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a neighbor’s death is declared a suicide by the police, they suspect foul play and decide to investigat­e, all while producing a podcast about their findings. The eclectic cast also includes Amy Ryan, Nathan Lane and Sting. (Tuesday, Hulu).

Other bets

Sunday: As the 20th anniversar­y of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks nears, be on the lookout for plenty of commemorat­ive programmin­g. Tonight brings “9/11: One Day in America,” a moving four-night documentar­y series that chronicles the events of that tragic day through personal narratives of first responders and survivors. (9 p.m., National Geographic Channel).

Monday: At last, it’s national finals time on “American Ninja Warrior.” The competitio­n returns to Las Vegas, where the ninjas face up to eight supersized obstacles on a ridiculous­ly tough course. (8 p.m., NBC).

Tuesday: Organizati­on icon and author Marie Kondo is back with a new show, “Sparking Joy.” Over three episodes, she brings her tidying tactics to people struggling to balance their work and personal lives. (Netflix).

TV picks

Wednesday: On “Riverdale,” Cheryl enlists the help of Archie and others after learning there’s palladium underneath her maple groves. Also, Betty and Alice confront a trucker who may have been involved in Polly’s disappeara­nce. (8 p.m., The CW).

Thursday: Toes will tap and heads will bop as the “CMA Summer Jam” comes our way. Some of country music’s biggest stars perform in the three-hour special, including Munhall’s Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and more. (8 p.m., ABC).

Friday: “Bitchin‘: The Sound and Fury of Rick James” is a raw and intimate look at the colorful life of the late funk artist who gave us hits such as “Superfreak,” “Give It to Me Baby” and “Mary Jane.” Included: Rare footage of James’ raucous live shows, home videos and interviews with collaborat­ors and friends. (9 p.m., Showtime).

Saturday: The college football season gets rolling in earnest this weekend, and we’ve already got a big marquee showdown lined up as No. 3-ranked Clemson takes on No. 5 Georgia at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit call the action. (7:30 p.m., ABC).
