Kansas wins top-10 clash

Jayhawks overpower No. 8 Baylor

Christian Braun and Ochai Agbaji each scored 18 points and host No. 10-ranked Kansas bolted to a big lead and routed No. 8 Baylor, 83-59, Saturday to hold onto the top spot in the Big 12 Conference race. The Jayhawks (19-3, 8-1) led by as many as 34 points late. Baylor (19-4, 7-3) had won nine games in a row against top-10 opponents.

Other men’s games

Auburn 74, Georgia 72: Wendell Green Jr. made a tiebreakin­g layup with four seconds remaining and No. 1 Auburn (22-1, 10-0 SEC) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 19 games. Host Georgia (6-17, 1-9) is the SEC’s last-place team.

Purdue 82, Michigan 76: Jaden Ivey scored 23 points for host No. 4 Purdue (20-3, 9-3 Big Ten), which broke a fivegame skid to Michigan (11-9, 5-5) and became the first team to reach 1,000 Big Ten wins.

Kentucky 66, Alabama 55: The host Crimson Tide (149, 4-6 SEC) shot just 28% from the floor, including 3 of 30 from long distance. TyTy Washington Jr. led the No. 5 Wildcats (19-4, 8-2) with 15 points and Oscar Tshiebwe added 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Arizona 72, Southern California 63: Azuolas Tubelis scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for host No. 7 Arizona (19-2, 9-1 Pac-12), which rallied in the second half to beat No. 19 USC (19-4, 9-4).

Duke 87, North Carolina 67: Freshman A.J. Griffin scored a season-high 27 points for No. 9 Duke (19-3, 92 ACC) in retiring Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski’s final visit to Chapel Hill. Brady Manek scored 21 points to lead the Tar Heels (16-7, 8-4), who had won four games in a row and swept last season’s series.

Villanova 85, Connecticu­t 74: Eric Dixon scored a careerhigh 24 points as host No. 12 Villanova (17-6, 10-3 Big East) won its fifth game of the season against a top-25 team. RJ Cole led the No. 17 Huskies (15-6, 6-4) with 25 points.

Rutgers 84, Michigan State 63: Paul Mulcahy had his firstcaree­r double-double with 15 points and a career-high 12 assists and host Rutgers (13-9, 7-5 Big Ten) routed the No. 13 Spartans (17-4, 8-3).

Illinois 74, Indiana 57: Trent Frazier scored 23 points as No. 18 Illinois (17-5, 10-2 Big Ten) won its fourth in a row. Race Thompson led host Indiana (16-6, 7-5) with 13 points.

DePaul 69, Xavier 65: Courvoisie­r McCauley scored 21 points as short-handed DePaul (11-10, 2-9 Big East) snapped a four-game losing streak. Paul Scruggs led the host No. 21 Musketeers (16-6, 6-5) with 21 points.

Texas 63, Iowa State 41: Marcus Carr and Andrew Jones each scored 14 points as host No. 23 Texas (17-6, 6-4 Big 12) used a barrage of 3-pointers early in the second half to pull away. Izaiah Brockingto­n scored 12 for No. 20 Iowa State (16-7, 3-7).

Tennessee 81, South Carolina 57: Zakai Zeigler tied his career high with 18 points, all in the second half, including backto-back 3-pointers that broke open a tight game for No. 22 Tennessee (16-6, 7-3 SEC). Devin Carter and Erik Stevenson had 13 points each for host South Carolina (13-9, 4-6).

Vanderbilt 75, LSU 66: Rodney Chatman scored a seasonhigh 24 points, and host Vanderbilt (12-10, 4-6 SEC) won its biggest game of the season. LSU (16-7, 4-6) has lost six of seven.

Women’s games

Iowa State 76, Oklahoma State 58: Emily Ryan was 6 for 6 from 3-point range as host No. 11 Iowa State (20-3, 9-2 Big 12) matched its best start in school history. Lauren Fields led Oklahoma State (6-14, 1-10) with 19 points.

BYU 62, Gonzaga 50: Paisley Harding scored 22 points and No. 16 BYU (19-2, 9-1 West Coast Conference) erased a 15point halftime deficit by holding host Gonzaga (17-5, 8-1) to just 15 second-half points.
