Thanks for the spotlight on a regional dance legend
Thank you for the wonderful article about CeCe Kapron (“Meet Mt. Lebanon’s CeCe Kapron, a pioneer of high school dance education for 50 years” by Abby Mackey, published online Jan. 20). My daughter Anne was so fortunate to have had her as her teacherand mentor.
Anne was a member of dancecompany, and she also danced with Point Park’s Conservatory during her high school years. She went on to dance with the dance company at Boston University.
She now teaches English at Loch Raven High School in a suburb of Baltimore. Andshe is still dancing. Both Anne and her daughter, Julianna, dance with the
Mid-AtlanticYouth Ballet.
Anne graduated in 1996, but the lessons she learned from Ms. Kapron continue to influence her every day as a teacher.
Thank you for shining the spotlight on one of Mt. Lebanon’s treasures.
DARLENE MATTHEWS
Mt. Lebanon Just a quick shoutout to thank you for your exceptional writing in the Post-Gazette, Abby Mackey. I sometimes find myself thinking, I don’t have time to read this now, and I really don’t care about championship goats. But as soon as I read the first paragraph I’m all in for the rest of the story!
Jan. 30’s articles about Alexa Miles (“She treated a goat likea ‘king.’ Now they’re both champions.”] and Sarah Hill [“This postal worker is the community’s ‘ear to the street.’ The residents are repaying her with a wedding fund.”] were great as usual. I thoroughly enjoyed, and still find myself reflecting on, Sarah Robison’s Appalachian Trail quest and her life choices that led to her incredible accomplishments (“Pittsburgh
woman shares hardearned lessons from the AppalachianTrail,” Oct. 24).
When I ask myself why I pay for a subscription to the PG, I remind myself that it’s because of the outstanding contributions of writers like you. (Feel free to pass that along to your editor.) Please keep up the great work!
Sincerely, GARY GIFFIN
Cecil
